| ![]() Minnehaha Creek in Minnetonka. Minnetonka In 1852, a dam was built on Minnehaha Creek and a loggers settlement grew into the village of Minnetonka Mills. The surrounding area eventually grew into the city of Minnetonka. Over time, Minnetonka has swelled to become the largest city in the vicinity of the lake with a present population of nearly 45,000.
